While Mom's Away...

A few weeks ago I went to San Diego for a paratriathlon camp. Paratriathlon involves swimming, biking and running so I had to bring my handcycle and race chair. As you can tell, I had my hands full managing all this equipment so Morey stayed at home with my roommate.

Morey is allowed to sleep on my bed on an "invitation only" basis. However, when I am gone and not there to invite him up, Morey has gotten into the habit of "inviting" himself up on my bed. Although he sleeps on top of my blankets when I am home, when I am gone he tends to make my bed his own by digging up the sheets and blankets so he can leave a layer of hair all over my sheets.

But when we've been apart for a few days and I have this face to greet me it's hard to be angry!

Fond Farewell

After eight months of work I recently completed my internship with OneStar Foundation. Morey and I both enjoyed our time there and it was sad to say good bye (even as I looked forward to "only" working at my full time job at
UT!).

The whole staff had a good bye celebration for me and Morey and while I got flowers and a sweet card, Morey got tennis balls with Longhorns on them!

Morey will miss his friends at OneStar but he certainly does appreciate their gift!

Dog Days of Summer

You know it's hot when Morey doesn't want to play ball! After only a few minutes outside in the 100 degree heat we both want to go back inside and enjoy the air conditioning!

When it's hot for so many days in a row I have to be more strategic about giving Morey opportunities to exercise. On Saturday mornings before it gets too hot we go play some ball at the elementary school down the street from our house.

Our evening routine usually involves some work in the garden. Morey also helps out by retrieving items (including the garden blanket) and carrying tools. Surprisingly although he loves water he doesn't like the hose so he tends to avoid the area when I am watering.

We're both ready for cooler weather so we can go back to regular hours and not have to live nocturnally to avoid the heat!
