This year rugby nationals were in Houston so Morey and I packed up
and hit the road for a long weekend. Although I don't play anymore I
went because I am on the Board of Directors and to support my team and
see friends I haven't seen since last year. While I miss having rugby in
my life, Morey does not miss it at all- the loud noise, the hard
floors, and the long waiting around the gym. However, he is a good sport
and, as usual, got lots of compliments and made some new friends.
Most of the time Morey stayed next to me during the games but after two
days I could tell he was really tired so I set up his collapsible crate
in the team staging area so he could rest for a while. The crate is a
tiny bit small for him so I leave the bottom unzipped so he can stick
his paws (or nose) outside.
One
of my friends was raising a puppy for Canine Companions for
Independence and it was fun to see Morey and Toluca together. Toluca
just wanted to play but she did very well to maintain her composure
around Morey. When we went back to the hotel we took off their vests and
let them run and chase around the hotel room. It was just what they
needed after a long day on the job!
Morey looks worn out from his weekend adventure!
